Illa de Rúa is sport and sea, but above all a solidarity initiative. Every swimmer, volunteer and supporter helps strengthen the fight against cancer in Ribeira.
The first Illa de Rúa swim was held in 2017, created by the Spanish Association Against Cancer in Ribeira, Club Natación Ribeira and the Yacht Club. Since then, the event has grown without losing its original purpose: crossing the sea to add strength to the fight against cancer.
